As soon as I heard the thematic focus of the shoe line using the quote “woman wearing the pants”, I was pulled to the concept of dissecting certain gender roles put on us through social and sometimes economical pressures. In my personal work I am interested in the constrictions placed upon us through these cultural implications. I question what is felt internally in comparison to what is pushed on us externally. For this performances, I decided to take the representation of the clean set table and to act against it as a war to take back control, to break apart it to the basic material. The shoes became that tool for my limbs to act against those set rules.
Now more than ever, we need to decide how we can release ourselves from such restrictions and how to reclaim our surroundings – but most importantly our bodies.
